VIOLIN PROGRAM
Ms. Robin Erickson
A native of Eugene, Robin Erickson began violin lessons at age nine and quickly fell in love. She is an alumna of the Eugene Youth Symphonies and South Eugene High School String Ensemble, and holds a degree in Violin Performance from the University Of Oregon School Of Music. She has also studied violin with Burton Kaplan, professor of violin at Manhattan School of Music and director of Magic Mountain Music Farm – a retreat where a select cohort of professional and pre-professional classical musicians meet to study the arts of practicing and performing.
Miss Robin has studied Suzuki Pedagogy with a variety of Teacher Trainers in Wisconsin, Oregon, Colorado, Florida and Peru, earning registration in violin volumes 1-6 and 10. Her teaching, while deeply embedded in the Suzuki Method, is also strongly influenced by her work with Burton Kaplan, whose system of practice techniques empower every musician, from beginning to professional, to master their art.
In addition to teaching, Miss Robin performs locally with the Eugene Symphony, the Oregon Mozart Players, the Eugene Concert Choir, and the OSU-Corvallis and Newport Symphonies.
Suzuki Violin Method
The Suzuki Method is an educational philosophy which demonstrates that children learn to play an instrument in the same way they learn their own language: by listening, absorbing, and copying.
Private Lessons
The most traditional and effective way to study a musical instrument . Private lessons give students the opportunity to enjoy one-on-one instruction with the flexibility of individualized scheduling.
