The Nutcracker Suites refers to the eight most popular sections of the full length ballet. Before the 1892 debut of the entire ballet, Marius Petipa extracted these parts and presented them as the Nutcracker Suites. The suite, featuring the familiar Tchaikovsky score, was first performed, under the composer's direction, on 19 March 1892 at an assembly of the St. Petersburg branch of the Musical Society (Imperial Ballet, Maryinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Russia). The suite became instantly popular; the complete ballet did not achieve its great popularity until around the mid-1960s.
Pacific Classical Youth Ballet and Ballet North West Academy are pleased to announce our presentation of the Nutcracker Suites, complete with a story time introduction. This promises to be a holiday treat! Short and sweet enough for families with young children to attend and festive enough to get everyone in the holiday spirit. |
This 45 minute show, complete with story time introduction, includes all the favorite variations from the traditional Nutcracker, as well as the Snow scene (new this year) and the Waltz of the Flowers. This shortened version of the popular holiday favorite is perfect for families and is a great way to kick off the holiday season.
