DANCE PROGRAM

 In the wings

Michele Major, Artistic Director of Ballet North West Academy, has experience as both a professional dancer and is a certified teacher of the Vaganova method of ballet instruction. BNWA has two different types of dance programs, the pre-professional ballet training program and the contemporary dance program.

All of our teachers are experienced, talented and passionate to teach the beauty, technique and importance of dance. Our teachers bring to their students either a college degree in dance, certification of study, have or are currently dancing professionally or a combination of them all! As Artistic Director, Ms. Michele not only teaches the ballet program but also overlooks all of the other programs and offers guidance and direction to her teachers which ensure proper technique and consistency in training.

Method

The Vaganova Method

The Vaganova syllabus is known as the most difficult syllabus to teach as well as the most difficult to learn. Yet once mastered, is the most successful for professional careers. Vaganova has come to define the Russian method of training dancers in ballet technique, while at the same time developing individual artistry through creative combinations of movement, musicality, and emphasis on upper body placement.

Classes

Class Descriptions

This is a complete list of all the dance classes we offer at BNWA. At our academy, we offer 48 different styles and levels. This ensures that both the professionally minded dancers are trained properly and that the recreational dancers have many forms of dance to choose from.

Schedule

Class Schedule

BNWA is a year round school. We offer both our regular afternoon class schedule plus full-day and half-day summer camps intensives. All camps and intensives are designed to teach at the next higher level.

Call Board

The Student Call Board is very important. A call board is literally a backstage bulletin board which contains information about a theatrical production including schedules, rehearsal time s, rehearsal time changes, cast list, costume information, etc. If you are in a production (i.e. Rise Up!, nutcracker, Snow Maiden or Recital) please check this board frequently while in production.

Letter to New Parents

As a new parent, choosing a dance school can be very confusing. We will give some fundamental guidelines on what to look for in dance schools to help you make an informed decision.

Parents Board

The Parents Board is a great place to check on a regular basis just to see what is happening at your dancers academy. We update this when ever there is something happening at the academy. This site is password protected. If you are registered in classes, please get the username and password at the front desk.
